Summer Outings

Below is a list of the remaining proposed club outings for the summer period. All will be subject to the weather, and further details will be posted nearer to the time. If you would like to join any of these trips please contact the webmaster.

Saturday June 15th :   Farne Islands

Tried and tested Farne Islands trip for bird photography. An early start is needed to catch the ‘All-day birdwatching’ trip that leaves Seahouses at 9.30 am. Cost is 40 for the boat trip plus 34.80 landing fees if you are not a National Trust member – plus shared petrol costs. Will arrange if more than 3 people are interested.

Monday June 17th :       Saltwick Bay (8.00 pm)

Photographing the rock formations, wreck and nabs at low tide / sunset. Descent to the beach can be a bit tricky, and rocks slippery so good waterproof footwear recommended. Low tide is at 23.13, sunset at 21.41.

Sunday July 21st :    Leyburn 1940s day (9.30 am)

Leyburn have an annual 1940s weekend – so opportunities for photographing people in costume etc

Weds 31st July : Industry – North Gare / Greatham  (7.30 pm)

With the set subject in mind, a location where we can photography the chemical plants as daylight falls and the lights come on. Sunset at 21.05

Tuesday August 13th :    Captain Cook’s monument / Gribdale terrace (7.00 pm)

Photographing the heather (date to be confirmed nearer the time) with evening views out over the moors or back to Roseberry Topping. Sunset at 20.39.

Thursday 29th August  :   Saltburn (6.30 pm)

‘Traditional’ outing to Saltburn for beach sunsets, which is at 20.02
