Programme Questionnaire

Members should have received by email a link to a questionnaire regarding the coming season’s activities – the use of Zoom and the potential for restarting physical meetings. It would be great if you could complete this to help the committee plan for the autumn session.

Robin Sinton

Whitley Bay PS have informed us of the death of Robin Sinton – who has judged at Stokesley in the past. Robin had been a member of Whitley Bay P. S. only for a short time & formerly of Tynemouth P.S. He was well known in the NCPF region, judging & lecturing at a number of clubs. Our thoughts are with his family.

Sunderland Exhibition

Me and My Engine by Judy Beveridge LRPS

Sunderland Photographic Association Annual Exhibition was due to be held this month at the Art Centre, Washington. Due to Coronavirus it is not possible to hold an actual exhibition. However the Arts Centre has put an online version of the Exhibition on their website. This can be viewed by following the link or by going to the home page of Art Centre Washington’s website. The Exhibition will be viewable until 8th August.

Care in Crisis photography

Matthew Jones, a our Junior Doctors at James Cook Hospital is a very keen photographer and prior to the pandemic, had been working at the St Theresa Hospital at Nzara in South Sudan. A charity photographic commission there has been put on hold as a result of the pandemic and so Matt has decided to use his skills to photograph the Critical Care team at James Cook whilst they worked within their ‘hidden world’.

He’s done a great job – the pictures, taken last month within the COVID Intensive Care Units give a glimpse of what it has been like to work in the ICU during the pandemic.

Wensleydale CC Exhibition

WCC ANNual EXhibition Promotional A4

Wensleydale CC’s normal summer exhibition at the Leyburn Bolton Arms can’t happen this year, so they have produced a free virtual exhibition – the idea is we will give people something to look at during lockdown, whilst also helping the Wensleydale Railway.

More Zoom lectures

Following the success of Chris Upton’s Zoom lecture I have organised two further talks, both at the same time of 7.30 pm om a Wednesday evening.

(1) Wednesday 27th May: Julian Elliott – “Mongolia, from the landscape to Eagle Hunters”

Julian is a landscape and travel photographer currently based in France. His website has lots of fine images.

(2) Wednesday 17th June: Dianne Seddon – “Odd things” – creative photography

Online lecture, 6th May

We will be holding our first virtual lecture, to be given by Chris Upton, on Weds 6th May. Chris, who is a Fuji Ambassador, gave us a well-received talk last year, and will show and discuss is travel images. The talk will be given via Zoom ad will last about 90 minutes.
